The Sentriant product line from Extreme Networks seeks to prevent
non-compliant endpoints from getting on your network in the first place;
and then, when they are allowed on, to prevent them from being able to
distribute any potential nasties to other peer machines over the LAN.
The product's NAC capabilities are represented by the Sentriant
Access Guard (AG) appliance, which received a boost this past week
in that it now supports clustered and distributed appliance deployments
such that a single master server can control and configure multiple
enforcement servers, with failover support added to cluster
configurations. Sentriant AG can scan a computer attempting to access
the network in one of three possible ways: Agent-less (selected Windows
OSs only), Agent-based (Windows and Mac OS X), and Web-based (via
an Internet Explorer ActiveX control). Bad guys can be locked out of
the network proper via both inline and indirect (DHCP proxy, 802.1x)
methods. Review our Sentriant product briefing for further details
on both of the current Sentriant product offerings.
